Funeral services for Alice Aaker will be at 2:30 p.m Friday, July 27, at Hartquist Funeral Home - Engebretson Chapel in Luverne. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne. Visitation begins one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Alice G. Aaker, 73, Hills, formerly of Luverne, died Saturday, July 21, 2007, at Tuff Memorial Home in Hills.
Alice G. Jenson was born to John and Jessie Jenson on Nov. 4, 1933, in Luverne. She was raised on the family farm and attended country school. Following her education she lived and helped on the family farm.
She married Marvin Aaker on June 19, 1955, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Luverne. Following their marriage they lived on a farm south of Luverne. In 1985 the couple stopped farming but remained living on the acreage. In 1995 the couple moved to Luverne, where they lived until October 2002 when they moved to Tuff Memorial Home in Hills. Mr. Aaker died July 30, 2004. She continued to live at Tuff.
Mrs. Aaker was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Luverne. She enjoyed dancing, listening to church hymns and taking care of animals on the farm. She also enjoyed traveling and polka music performances. She loved her cats on the farm.
Survivors include one sister, Eleanor Hartog, Rochester; one niece Barb (Roger) Van Batavia, Hills; five nephews, Kevin (Mary) Aaker, Luverne, Gary (Eileen) Hartog, Mount Horeb, Wis., Steve Hartog, Rochester, Dennis Hartog, Ft. Myers. Fla., and Roger Hartog, Portland, Ore.; and other family.
Mrs. Aaker was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marvin, and two brothers-in-law, George Hartog and Russell Aaker.

Marvin Orlando Aaker, 82, Hills, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Tuff Memorial Home in Hills.
Services were Tuesday, Aug. 3, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Luverne. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery, Luverne.
Marvin Aaker was born to Martin and Klara Bertha (Skyberg) Aaker on June 1, 1922, on a farm in Martin Township, Rock County. He was raised on the family farm and attended school. Upon completion of his education, he farmed with his father.
He married Alice Jensen on June 19, 1955, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Luverne. After their marriage, they lived on a farm south of Luverne. He raised various types of livestock and grain. He stopped farming in 1985, and became employed as school bus driver for Hills, Luverne, and Adrian schools. He worked as a school bus driver for nine years before his retirement in 1995. They then moved to Luverne. He moved to Tuff Memorial Home in Hills on Oct. 2, 2002.
Mr. Aaker was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Luverne.
Survivors include his wife; one niece; one nephew; and four cousins.

FUNERAL HELD TUESDAY FOR AANEN AANENSON
Luverne Man Succumbs Saturday to Tuberculosis Following Year's Illness; Interment in Maplewood.
Aanen J. Aanenson died Saturday morning at 2:30 o'clock at the home of his mother, Mrs. San Barstad, on East Lincoln street. His death was due to tuberculosis and followed an illness of about one year's duration.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the home and at 2:00 o'clock from Our Savior's Lutheran church, Rev. J. O. Mundahl officiating, and interment was made in Maplewood. Pallbearers were Robert McClure, Aanen Skoland, Alvin Refsness, Gerald Gunderson, Ben Hendel and Ole Konsmo.
Mr. Aanenson was born June 25th, 1907, on a farm in Rock county. He accompanied his parents when they moved to this city a few years ago and had resided here ever since.
Besides his bereaved parents, deceased is survived by three sisters, and two brothers. They are Mrs. John McClure, of Lismore; Mrs. Clarence Torgerson, of Sheridan, Ill., and Josephine, Alvin and Joseph, of this city. He is also survived by a half-brother and a half-sister, Ole and Gurnia Hommen, of this city.

Funeral services for Anna L. Aanenson, 89, resident of Rock County since she came from Norway in 1906, were conducted Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne.
Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery.
The Rev. Allan Nelson and Rev. Gary Danielson officiated. Arlin Gyberg, Douglas Aanenson, Greg Aanenson, Larry Aanenson, Kendal Braa, David Aanenson, Harold Roemeling, Jr., and Curtis Gyberg were pallbearers.
Engebretson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Anna Aanenson died Wednesday at her home in Luverne.
She was born Sept. 29, 1892, in Liknes Sogn, Kvinsdahl, Norway. She attend school in Norway and came to the United States on April 25, 1906.
Anna Moi and Theodore Aanenson were married Nov. 25, 1907, in Luverne. They farmed in Rock County until 1966 when they moved to Luverne.
Anna Aanenson was affiliated with Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne.
She is survived by eight children, Selma (Mrs. Sig) Gyberg, Beaver Creek; Aanen Aanenson, Anoka; Arnie Aanenson, Luverne; Selmer Aanenson, Luverne; Luella (Mrs. Charles) Braa, Luverne; Erling Aanenson, Sweetwater, TX; Edwin Aanenson, Luverne; Theodore Aanenson, Sioux Falls; twenty-four grandchildren and thirty-four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three daughters, two sons, one grandchild, her parents, four brothers and four sisters.

Alvilda Aanenson Dies After Brief Illness
Nervous Breakdown Preceding Short Siege of Pneumonia Results in Death of Luverne Township Girl.
Miss Alvilda Aanenson, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Aanenson, of Luverne Township, succumbed Sunday evening at 9:00 o'clock at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Karine Moi, in this city, to an attack of double pneumonia, She had been critically ill for only one day, but had a nervous breakdown for a considerable period, which complicated her condition.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock from the home and at 2:00 o'clock from Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Rev. J.O. Mundahl officiating, and interment was made in Maplewood. Aanen Olson, Karl Vegge, Edwin Tofteland, Hans Kvass, Thorvald Tobiason and Wm. Zenson were pallbearers.
Miss Aanenson was born June 30th, 1908, in Rock, and had spent all her life here. Besides her bereaved parents she is survived by eleven brothers and sisters. They are Edia, Selma, Luella, Aanen, Alexander, Arne, Selmer, Erling. Edwin and Theodore, Jr.

Arnie J. Aanenson, 76, Luverne, died Friday, April 26, 1996, in the Luverne Community Hospital.
Services were Monday, April 29, in Engebretson Funeral Home Luverne. The Rev. Maurice E. Hagen officiated. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery, Luverne. Pallbearers were David Remme, Larry Aanenson, Douglas Aanenson, Arlin Gyberg, Curtis Gyberg, Kathe Stearns, Rebecca Oden and Debra DenBesten.
Arnie Aanenson was born to Theodore and Anna (Moi) Aanenson on Dec. 24, 1919, in Rock County. he was raised and educated in Rock County. He was baptized and confirmed in the Norwegian Lutheran Church of American. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 9, 1942.
He was a sergeant with the Depot Supply Company and spent much of his oversea duties in Persia and Germany. He also sailed around the world during his tour of duty. He was decorated with the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theater service medals. He was discharged on Oct. 24, 1945. Mr. Aanenson was one of seven brothers who served their country during World War II. After the war he returned to the Luverne area and farmed north of town for many years. He later moved to Luverne to retire.
Survivors include three brothers, Edwin Aanenson and his wife, Naidine Aanenson, Luverne; Erling Aanenson, Sweetwater, Texas; and Theodore Aanenson and his wife, Eunice, Sioux Falls, S.D.; two sisters, Selma Gyberg, Beaver Creek, and Luella Braa and her husband, Charles, Luverne; and nieces and nephews.
Mr. Aanenson was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Aanen (infant), Alex, Aanen and Selmer and three sisters, Alvida Aanenson, Edia Aanenson and Lillian Roemeling.
Engebretson Funeral Home, Luverne, was in charge of arrangements.

Dale Phillip Aanenson, born 9 Apr 1945; died 22 Sep 2008
Dale Phillip Aanenson, 63, died Monday, September 22, 2008, from a bicycle accident near his home in Blaine, MN. He was born the 3rd son of Russell and Florence Aanenson, April 9, 1945, in Luverne Community Hospital, Luverne, MN. Dale was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne, MN.
Dale grew up on the farm in Magnolia, MN, before moving to Minneapolis, MN, in 1965. Dale married Marvie Lynne House on June 7, 1969, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mound, MN. Dale and Marvie resided in Fridley, MN, and attended St. Phillips Lutheran Church in Fridley, MN. Dale worked at Onans/Cummins. He retired June 30, 2007 after 38 years of service. After retirement, Dale and Marvie moved to Cloverleaf Courts in Blaine, MN. Dale enjoyed spending time with family and friends, riding his bike, watching old movies and listening to music.
He will be missed by his wife, Marvie; brothers, Keith (Audrey) of Luverne, MN, Lee (Caryl) of Oakdale, MN, Alan (Jan) of Dent, MN, and Gene (Deb) of Luverne, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, family and friends. Preceded in death by parents, Russell and Florence Aanenson; and brother, Terry. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, Sept. 26 at St. Philip's Lutheran Church, 6180 NE Hwy 65, Fridley. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service at church. Interment in Maplewood Cemetery, Luverne, MN.
